Hello, my name is Dr. Michael Simmons. Allow me to share a few words about my background and interests.
I love dentistry and have devoted my adult life to this field in areas of research, learning and teaching, as well as treating patients. I am a perpetual student and stay abreast of new developments incorporating them into the most current patient care.
I graduated from The University of Pennsylvania dental school in 1981. After 5 years in general dental practice I returned to UCLA for postdoctoral advanced training in complex orofacial pain and dysfunction problems, where I studied in the dental and medical schools. Since then, I have been a part-time faculty member at UCLA teaching and being involved in research as time permits. I lecture frequently in the community as well as to other medical and dental groups especially in the area of Snoring, Sleep Apnea, TMJ and Orofacial Pain. Many physicians, dentists and specialists refer to me on their complex cases and I am devoted to coordinating the best care for each patient.
Every few years I devote myself to a specific area of dentistry and focus on developing additional expertise. These additional areas include Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Implants, Orthodontics, as well as TMJ, Occlusion, Orofacial Pain, Snoring and Sleep Apnea.
Outside of dentistry, I am married with three boys in high school to college. I enjoy playing many sports especially squash, racketball and badminton. My wife, Pamela, is a professional singer and now attends a cantorial school. My hobbies include building or fixing things. Most recently I have been involved helping with school projects and repairs around our home.
I am now focused on delivering dentistry in a day. This means same day crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers. In some instances we can place same day implants along with crowns on the implants. For patients that have no natural teeth there are also options of “mini” implants that can be placed and used to anchor dentures. The Dentistry in a Day approach is the newest and most innovative dentistry available and includes a broad spectrum of different dental procedures. It is the result of coordinating multiple areas of dentistry and developing the best of each to fit with individual patient’s needs and desires. Not all treatment can be delivered this quickly and often multiple appointments are necessary to achieve the best and most cosmetic results. Each person and circumstance is given the individual attention necessary to determine the best approach.
If you or someone you know would like a second opinion or would like to meet with me to discus any dental treatment or plan, please call our office to schedule a consultation appointment. I look forward to meeting you.
